While our corporate emphasis lies firmly on the production of top quality, competitive merchandise, we are also committed to the goal of forging a better future for Kenya's farmers.

We do this by ensuring that each member of our 20,000-strong team of small-scale farmers is required to contribute only land and labour to the operation. (The average Frigoken-dedicated plot is 200 sq m, around the size of a domestic garden, and constitutes only a small part of the average ½ -2 acres farm). In return, however, each farmer benefits from the following advantages:

• A guaranteed year-round income,
• Immediate payment at pre-set prices
• An assured market for their produce
• A higher pre-hectare income than the norm
• A second stream of agricultural activity increasing disposal income
• Extension services such as; agronomic training, field supervision, technical support and transport
• The provision of all inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides on interest-free credit terms
• Supervised pesticide application programmes
• An enhanced micro economy for the entire community

In addition to receiving the usual corporate employment benefits, our 95% plus female production force is supported by such innovative benefits as a crèche facility and a broad range of training and self-advancement opportunities.
In addition, because most of our female employees are unskilled workers and would not normally be able to find gainful employment, the additional income, social support and hygiene training they derive from their Frigoken employment can be translated into improved domestic conditions and a better education and environment for their children.
